“Sustainability is a key conceptual principle to be considered in all human activities including design, construction, operation, maintenance, repair and demolition of any building or civil engineering work forming the built environment” [fib]. Students will get an overview on civil, industrial, agricultural, water supply lifelines and coastal constructions. They will learn about the environmental impact, natural and anthropic hazards affecting the coastal built environment, circular principles of SBE (including social and economic) for buildings (durability, environment design, integrated life cycle assessment), European standards and regulations, challenges (low energy buildings with good thermal comfort, waste treatment, reduction of CO2).
